I want to know what's the best way of reinstalling Windows 10 Pro on the new HDD so I can format the old one and use it for backups. Will I run into any Windows activation issues? As for the components, I built the computer myself. As for the reinstallation process itself, would the easiest thing be to install a brand new copy of Windows 10 on the new HDD using a bootable pen drive and from the new copy, formatting my old HDD?

What is your Windows 10 license type? You can find this information on the label with the product key. You can also find out the type of license by following the steps below.
If it is an OEM license pre-installed , you will not be able to activate your Windows due to the change of the motherboard. OEM licenses are attached to the motherboard originally installed and cannot be transferred. Therefore, you will need to purchase a new license to activate Windows on new hardware.

Do a clean installation of Windows on the new HDD. Then you can connect the old HDD and recover your files if you wish. After that, format the old HDD in the new system to be able to use as a backup. I recommend that you install Windows using installation media created by the media creation tool. Access the link below and click on "Download tool now".
